Circe by Madeline Miller [Book Review]

This is the first book of her that I’ve read and tbh i was drawn into this book by its cover 😍 After i read the back of the book, i was quite scared to start this cause I’ve zero knowledge about Greek mythology and historical fiction is not my usual genre. But the moment I started this I was hooked.
Madeline’s writing, her choice of words, her way of retelling the classic myths is so beautiful ❤️ Everything just glides through your eyes and the story flows like a poem. Not literally but her writing feels like a poem.

Summary

Circe is daughter of god Helios and she was exiled to an island alone due to her mistake. As every human, goddesses Circe is also flawed, so her character is so relatable to us and you’ll find yourself sympathizing with her every pain and difficulties. She is ‘immortal’ so in her journey she tries each and everything to occupy her loneliness and get over her mistakes. She deals with everything, love, friendship, anger, sadness, happiness and you’ll be able to see Circe being brave, bold, fearless as well as being worried, fearful and sad. But all this emotions and events are all relatable and the character development of Circe was extraordinary.

My Thoughts

For me this book is mostly about discovering yourself and growing with your mistakes. Though Circe has done awful things but the writer has narrated it amazingly by portraying the atmosphere and her situation also by showing her personal growth which will make you feel sorry for her. If you’re into Greek mythology than you’ll be familiar with certain events that happens in the book but it’ll certainly make you reconsider the motivation and your thoughts towards that events.

Coming at the ending, it was an incredible and inspiring ending 🧡

Did I mention how much i loved Madeline’s writing? OMG give me more books please 😍😍 literally i’m giving +1 star for her writing.
